The prices include delivery within 20 miles of our base and collection of any hire items, washing service (you don't need to wash up after, just pack away into the box provided and we will collect later in the day)

Valentine's Day Vintage Party - 14th February

With Valentine's Day due why not treat your loved one to a vintage Valentines Tea Party. A Vintage Valentine Party is a super way of celebrating and intimate afternoon tea together with lovely food, and romantic music, or if you like party atmosphere why not extend your invitations to friends and family. To make it more fun choose an era and all dress for that time period, for example: Titanic and Downton Abbey, Board Walk Empire/Prohibition of the 1920s and 1930s, Miss Marple and tea in St Mary Mead, VE day, Darling Buds of May, and so on. If you cannot hold your party on Valentine's Day hold it on the Saturday or Sunday before or after. These are spiffing days for parties and if you have an afternoon party it gives you time to recover from too much tea drinking (ahem!) if you are due back in work the following day - perfick!

We can supply you with decorations, vintage china, silver ware, candelabras, sandwiches and cakes. We will deliver the day before if you are supplying your own food, or on the day if we are supplying your food, and collect the day after. You will not be expected to clean the hired items, we will do this for you after collection for no extra charge. You will also need to decide if you require the china to be matching, all one pattern and colourway, or mis-matched, which is the most popular and more fun.

For a party of 8, (or 4 couples) we supply just the right amount of crockery, decorations and suitable tableware for £7.95 per person and you supply your own food. You will be hiring the following:
8 x cups, saucers, teaplates
8 savoury knives
8 dessert forks
8 teaspoons
2 milk jugs
1 sugar bowl & tongs
2 large teapots (6-8 cups in each)
2 large sandwich plates
1 single tier cake place
2 two tier cakes stands
1 tablecloth & 8 napkins
1 metal jug for flowers (you supply the red roses!)
1 candelabra

If you would like us to supply finger sandwiches and cakes for your guests the price is £10 per person.
We usually supply two types of finger sandwiches, you can choose from:
Salmon & Cream Cheese
Cucumber
Egg Mayo & Cress
Ham & Mustard

You can choose from two of the following cakes:
Victoria Sponge
Lemon Drizzle Cake
Fruit Loaf
Scones, Jam & Clotted Cream

We can also supply champagne, Belgian chocolates, iced cup cakes, and other luxuries at additional costs if required and depending on your budget vintage games, outdoor ludo, croquet and chess, background music of the era you have chosen, plus ideas for table gifts for your guests. We also have staff available to wait on you at extra costs. They will be dressed in vintage style black with white pinnies and will serve, clean up and remove all hired items on the day charged at an hourly rate.

All About Us

Welcome to The Vintage Party Company based in Devon. We offer fabulous a hire service for vintage crockery, cutlery and props to suit any vintage event. All our china items are hand chosen, at the very least 25 years old, and are all definitely over the age of consent!


We have pretty china trios of cups, saucers and tea plates, teapots, silver ware all available to make your party fabulous. The nature of our hire service is that not all pieces will match; we do have matching tea sets, but it’s much more fun to have them mis-matched. We have all types of patterns and sizes and colours.

We have gained our experience in parties through running a Georgian Hotel in the Midlands where we catered for anything up to 300 guests in both the hotel and marquee settings.  Parties, weddings, anniversaries are all catered for, all you have to do is ask how we can help you make your event spectacular.

Hire Prices

Depending on your event you can either hire items from us individually from our price list, or if you are just holding a simple tea party at home for a few girlfriends or a baby shower then we have a package price that may suit you.


Based on 8 people at a small event you can hire the following for £6.95 per person:
8 x cups, saucers, teaplates
8 savoury knives
8 dessert forks
8 teaspoons
2 milk jugs
1 sugar bowl & tongs
2 large teapots (6-8 cups in each)
2 large sandwich plates
1 single tier cake place
2 two tier cakes stands


This will suit two sandwich fillings and three different cakes varieties.
The total for the above will be: £55.60
(Please note this does not include delivery charges or breakage insurance)


If you are holding a larger event please contact us to discuss prices based on individual items required, dependent on where you are holding your function and the nature of the food being served as this does make a difference.  


For Children's parties we can tailor your package to suit an individual style, for example our special Alice in Wonderland party.

Vintage Styling Service

If you would like advice on how to style your event and also some help in preparing it all, then we offer a personalised, bespoke service.   With so many different aspects to an event sometimes it can be quite overwhelming.  Especially if it's the day before a wedding.  


We have experience in preparing for over 300 guests professionally in both a hotel, marquee or garden party.  We can offer you advice on how to style your tables, decorations, even the type of props that would be suitable.  Whether you are holding a 1940s Victory Party, Vintage Wedding or Alice in Wonderland Tea Party for children just ask!


For a small charge of £50 we will meet with you at your chosen event and discuss how you can utilise the room to your best advantage and discuss what props you can hire from us, or we can obtain for you to suit your era or theme. The day before when delivering the items you are hiring from us we will stay and help you style and put your room together to ensure EVERYTHING is in place.  

Terms & Conditions

Due to the nature of our business our Term and Conditions are quite comprehensive, but are industry standard.



Hire Period
Our standard hire period is 3 days, allowing for the delivery of items the day prior to the event and collection of items the day after. If you require the items for a longer period just let us know when booking so that we can adjust the charge accordingly. 


Delivery and Collection
We will deliver your items to your venue at a charge of 40p per mile each way for both delivery and collection journeys, and a minimum delivery charge of £20.00 each way will always apply. Our delivery and collection service is based on ground floor venues only, and that the goods are re-packed after use using the original packaging materials and boxes supplied and ready for collection. Should you require items to be delivered up stairs or re-packed after the event please discuss this with us so that we can make an additional charge.
Packing and Cleaning
Our items are NOT dishwasher safe, neither are they safe to heat up and in many cases are highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to hot water. We therefore offer a washing up service at an additional charge of 10% of the total hire cost. If you require this service we ask that you scrap all the foods from the plates, empty bowls, and all liquids from cups, teapots, etc and re-pack the items in the original boxes with the original packing materials supplied. We will then wash the items on return. Should any of the items be packed with food or liquid waste attached will reserve the right to make a surcharge.
If you prefer you may wash the items yourself, but then any chips/breakages will be charged at the rates below. After washing please repack securely using all the original packaging and boxes ready for collection.


Prices/Payment
The prices on our website do not include delivery/collection/styling charges. These costs will be calculated when you make an enquiry and will depend on what services are required, the order size and the journey for delivery.
A 50% deposit of the total order is required upon booking to secure the order. The Balance is then due 30 days prior to the event along with a breakage deposit of £200.
If the hire date is within 21 days of booking then full payment is due at the time of placing your order. Payment is accepted by paypal, cheque, bankers draft, bank transfer or cash.


Styling Service
We have a wealth of styling experience after styling many weddings and events professionally and are more than happy to style your event by setting up the vintage crockery and/or props as required. Our Charge for this service is £50 per event.


Deposits & Breakages
A deposit of 50% of the total order price is required upon placing your hire order to secure the booking.
A refundable breakage deposit of £200 is required upon Balance payment. This will be refunded after goods have been collected by us and checked for damages. We will endeavour to complete this process within 72 hours of collecting goods. Sometimes accidents happen and we ask you notify us of any damages you are aware of when we collect the items. Chipping of any china will be classed as a breakage as it can no longer be used.
Breakages/damages will be charged accordingly per item:
Tea cups, saucers, tea plates – £5.00
Sugar bowls, milk jugs, – £8.00
Tea pots, large jugs, large vases, large glass lanterns – £25.00
Cake stands, glass or china – £30.00


Fabric items that have been irreparably damaged by staining, tears etc will be charged as follows:
Bunting per metre, napkins – £5.00
Cushions – £15.00
Tablecloths, deckchairs – £50.00


Rental does not include, at this time, our 1960s vintage caravan hire.


As well as including breakages, this deposit covers any goods being held longer than the agreed hire period which will be charged at 1½ times the normal hire price per day until the missing goods are safely returned, and received by us. For example something goes missing and is not returned we will charge you for the hire charge and 1½ that price per day until returned.


Refund, Order Changes and/or Cancellations
If you need to make any additions to your order quantity we will need 5 days notice, although we cannot guarantee that these requirements can be fulfilled at short notice.
If you need to cancel your order the following charges will apply:
Notice of cancellation is 1 month + – no charge
Notice of cancellation is between 14 days and a month – 50% of hire charge is still required to be paid.
Notice of cancellation is less than 14 days prior to delivery – 100% of the hire charge is still required to be paid.
Cancellation MUST be in writing giving 1 months notice.


Condition of Goods
We try to ensure that goods are of an excellent condition for their age. There will be no visible chips, cracks or other obvious damage, however slight fading or staining may exist and are to be expected considering the age of these vintage pieces.
We expect all goods to be returned in the same condition as they were hired in, however


We understand that breakages do occur. Consequences of breakages are outlined above.


Responsibility
You are responsible for the safe keeping and protection of hired goods from the time they are delivered to the time they are collected by us. During this time, all goods will remain the property of The Vintage Party Company.
The Vintage Party Company can accept no responsibility for any injury or damage caused by or caused while using our hired goods, however the injury happens.


By placing an order with The Vintage Party Company you are accepting and agreeing to the terms and conditions outlined above.
